AIS Session on Nov 22 2014

ALL

I am so excited that I am sending this to-day instead of Thursday/Friday!!

As promised, we have our resident astronaut Rick Hieb, presenting this Saturday-starting at 9:00 AM.

He went up to the Space Station a few years back, stayed there for a long time and has very interesting experiences to relate.

He will answer all questions-please put on your curiosity hat- and has graciously agreed to stay after to sign autographs and take pictures-for those interested.

Since many parents have other children to pick up and other activities to go to, I would like to not delay too far beyond 11:00 AM for those that cannot stay. Hence I would like to start as close to 9:00 A.M. as possible.

We need some rearranging of chairs to be done in the room-hence please come by 8:45 AM-NO numbers will be given out as there is only ONE presentation.

Please let other folks that may be interested know too.

WE WILL NOT HAVE A SESSION NEXT WEEK –BUT WILL GET BACK IN THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER (December 6th)

AIS Session 11/1/2014

Hi all

Now that the Rocket launch is over, we will be back with regular sessions at Lockheed Martin on Saturdays. Here is what we will do first this Saturday-a little analysis on the rocket launch. Please try to get here between 8:30 and 8:45 AM so that we can start at 8:45

A few words from the sponsor!!!!

We saw many of the home made rockets go up and we also noticed that the parachute design needs improvement.   Some of you had successful launches while some others were not that lucky.  Even the commercial rocket of Orbital Sciences assisted by NASA failed on Tuesday (10/28/2014).   But we would like to hear from you all so that we can improve the launching experience even further in the coming years.  We will take just about 10 to 15 min in the beginning for some of you  to say why you thought the rockets either failed or  launched well.  Please assemble by 8:45 AM and we request that the students take the same sitting position on the floor as they did on the day when we gave the instructions.”

From another sponsor:

Note to Parents: Make sure that kids bring a note book and a pencil to every session
AFTER the Rocket Analysis, we have THREE great classes for you all.

They are:

1.      Putting on our Thinking Caps- Study of how the Brain functions/ ways of tricking the brain, via illusions or magic tricks/also SEE a Sheep’s brain
a.      Parents-you can help by using a stop watch function on your cell phones!!
2.      HOW and WHY-we Get rain/snow/Thunder/Lightning/Floods/Drought etc-Will Make You ALL Weatherpersons
3.      Since we are just going through Halloween, see some Ghosts and Goblins in “Spooky Science”- a FUN/SCARY session

PARENTS-WE are required to keep track of students coming to sessions-once you get your number, please write it down on the spreadsheet that we have against your name.

TO MY STUDENT HELPERS:

We need you to help set up, record who is here, help teachers and manage clean up later with others
