AIS Session 10/11/2014

Hello All

Hope all of you are as excited as I am. My blood is coursing through my body at a faster rate than normal-as someone said “it is a good thing at your age Raj”- can’t dispute that I guess!!

As a reminder,

Address: 9231 Corporate Boulevard, Rockville, MD 20850

Arrival Time; Please try to get here between 8:30 and 8:45 AM

The children’s badges are not ready yet as I kept adding names and the Security person “thought that was not funny” and stopped till the additions settled down.

Oh well-they will be ready soon

We have three splendid sessions tomorrow.

1.      Electricity Generation and Power Plants-a premier practitioner is presenting this; Will get your children on the way to becoming Engineers
2.      Circuits with Play Dough –Presented by a scientist who believes in “hands on (getting your hands dirty) activities-either make your children to experiment hands on stuff or make them fun loving kids-Oh joy!!
3.      Would you like to be Chandler-the one who makes candles- Guaranteed to start your children on the path to entrepreneurship, use their imagination and enhance their sensory skills!!

If I have forgotten to include someone you know that has registered, please forward

Cheers

Arrival Time; Please try to get here between 8:30 and 8:45 AM

Needs:
1. Parents -Please bring a driver’s license for ID; All parents are welcome and I would like both parents to stay-if possible; Siblings are OK if they will not disrupt classes;
2. Children: I am preparing badges for them; Please make sure they bring this back every week-else they would not be let in!!; Please let them know that they need to be responsible for their badges.

Classes/Sessions: Typically three every week; We will give out numbers as they come in-the earlier they come-more is the probability that they get to choose between the three classes.

General:

1.      We need parents to volunteer as teachers, keep track of their kids-not to let them run around (Security frowns on that), be aware that you are all in a secure environment and help out in all ways possible
2.      Next week (18th October) we will be building rockets-Please collect a minimum of 2 Paper Towel Roll inside tubes and 2 Toilet Paper roll inside tubes. If you have extra, please bring them that week
3.      On the 25th we will launch the rockets at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds starting at around 9:00 AM-no classes/sessions that day
4.      If there are any Lockheed employees, please come by 8:30 AM to help out. Please do not come before 8:30 AM and congregate in front of the building-Security gets worried in these trying times!
5.      My e-mail is in this note; If you are emailing me-please have Adventure in Science as the subject-95% of the time-it will not be deleted by our SPAM filter.
6.      I will send out a note Thursday/Friday about this Saturday’s topics
7.      For those that have volunteered to teach and those that desire to, I would like to have an informal planning/ideas session on Thursday-Please let me know (email) your availability –day/time. If not we can have it on Saturday after the classes

Cheers
