Session on Jan 9th

Hello All

Hope you all are doing well.

Hope you all are working with your children on the Parent's day projects-if not, please start them thinking-NOW!!

This is an email that requires –some responses from you-So PLEASE READ THROUGH!!

a.      Last week we had an exercise session-some Yoga stretches-and in the "friendly parent/child competition, the parents' performance kind of was not very good (below par!!)-just kidding.

Some Parents wanted to have a Parents' only session, once the kids adjourn to their respective sessions. We have a teacher (who has been teaching adults (!!) willing and available. If you are interested in a session, please let me know-we will schedule a session on the 16th (I need at least 10 interested Parents for the Instructor. So PLEASE respond (email) ONLY if interested.

NOT EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO DO THIS_YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND PARTICIPATE/HELP IN THE OTHER SESSIONS AS USUAL. No Pressure

b.      Please have your child create the Presentation forms (DR K's note). The process will make them think and think through the work they have to do

c.       Pretty soon we will send out another form requesting some administrative information-for Parent's day.

d.      In a previous email, I had asked about the following. I got "thunderous silence" as a response!!

Ø  If any of you know of a speaker that can share "sign language" –how to use it/how to interpret etc.

Ø  If any of you know of a company/business that can allow us to use their space (like what we have) for next year's AIS sessions-you all know what we need-a big meeting room and about 4 smaller rooms)

e.      As usual-please think (strongly) about sharing your knowledge with all of us. This is your program. More you volunteer and participate the better for the program. We have about 8 more Saturdays (ONLY)

We have five (5) great sessions for you.

Ø  Please come early after 8:15 to make sure you do not disappoint your children!!

Ø  Make sure all visitors/guests have IDs

Ø  I have five sessions for variety (and smaller class size-a Montgomery County theme!!). Please make sure you all come!! Your teachers have worked hard to get ready-DO NOT DISAPPOINT THEM!!

Ø  Your attendance will decide the topics, the variety and the number of sessions we have.

1.       Game Theory-A great learning experience for everyone (kids and adults). Working in groups you will learn how people buy/sell/build/negotiate. Good fun, great learning- if you have done this previously please give others a chance

2.       Global Warming- Learn from an Environmental Engineer what this is all about-may be El Nino, how it affects the weather, electricity, modern lives etc.

3.       The Science of Severe Weather: Hurricanes, Tornados, Typhoons and Cyclones- Learn all about "The Science of Severe Weather: Hurricanes, Tornados, Typhoons and Cyclones. You will get to move tornadoes

4.       Money- Learn all about money, how to make it, how to save money, how to "grow" money-tips and ideas (also how to negotiate with your parents to get some money  - -

5.       What does Xbox Kinect and Batman have in common-  For the "games interested" children(and adults who want to be children) great topic to learn/understand-Fun idea

Cheers
