AIS -January 30th

Apologize for the delay in sending this out so late-work intruded unfortunately.

Please:

1.       Fill up the Parent's day presentation forms and send it in to Dr. K. We have received only a handful of forms. Based on what you folks told me, many more are presenting.

2.       Read and fill up the form requesting additional info (for Parent's day)-we will send out very soon.

3.       Volunteer to teach-especially those that said they would and others who have thought about it!

We have the following for tomorrow. The usual tips apply-earlier you come, better the choice for your child (and I don't have to soothe or hear complaints!!)

a.       OPTICS- Science of Light/Vision/Sight etc- observe different physical properties of various lenses and how lenses make objects appear differently under various conditions fog/light/darkness. What does "Pitch black" mean, how much light do the Stars shed-what happens to light over long distances, how is light measured etc.!

b.    Heredity, Genetics and DNA- Learn what is heredity, what is genetics and why you resemble your mom and dad in many ways but are still different from them in some ways.  Learn what is DNA and what it has to do with all this.  Learn how to isolate DNA using simple things available in your home.

c.    DC Motors- Learn about electricity, Magnetism and magnets, what are Motors and what do they do, what happens if you wrap/wing a coil on a magnet, how do you vary the strength, speed and usefulness  of a motor,

d.      BluetoothWhat are sound waves and what other kinds of waves there are? What are they used for and where are they used? Learn about "From sound wave to electromagnetic wave, to basic concept of wireless communications.  Demo with walkie-talkies and Bluetooth Speaker."

If necessary we will have a 5th teacher. I am sure there would be plenty of volunteers!!

Cheers
